SC issues notice to NIA, Maha on house arrest plea of Navlakha | India News

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday agreed to hear social activist Gautam Navlakha‘s plea to be placed under house arrest instead of judicial custody in Taloja jail in the Elgar-Parishad case and issued notice to the NIA and Maharashtra government.
A bench of Justices KM Joseph and Hrishikesh Roy sought response from the central agency and the state and posted the hearing of the case to September 29. Navlakha, 70, approached the SC against the April 26 order of the Bombay HC dismissing his plea for house arrest over apprehensions of lack of adequate medical care and other basic facilities in Taloja jail where he is currently lodged.
